Here's the gist...

RMS is seeking a highly motivated Product Manager to lead the continual expansion of our product capabilities as it serves multiple hospitality industry verticals. The Product Manager will be responsible for the product strategy and delivery of a world-class, cloud-based property management system. The initial product development will focus on our traditional markets of hotels, RV parks, campgrounds, and marinas - ultimately expanding to other segments of the industry. This newly established role will drive the effective integration and execution of development and commercialization strategies in partnership with other functional leads in the company and our globally deployed development team.  

The Product Manager will create a high-level vision and lead strategic initiatives while evangelizing multiple product capabilities internally and in the market. The ideal candidate will operate with a strong ability to persuasively articulate the roadmap and strategy to ensure effective execution against strategic objectives. This is a roll-up your sleeves, hands-on position initially working as an individual contributor and building a world-class product management team over time. This visible position will report to the Chief Operating Officer. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing and driving the software product strategy and vision for RMS, with a focus on the hotel market. 
  • Write specifications, prioritize features, build consensus, and coordinate product schedules, working with a globally deployed development organization.  
  • Take an active role in the software development process as the product owner establishing timelines, monitoring progress, ensuring quality, and holding the organization accountable to deliver on commitments.  
  • Work closely with stakeholders from Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Finance, and Operations to identify and address product gaps and broad hospitality industry trends.  
  • Nurture and grow internal and external partnerships. Collaborate with peers, the development team, and third parties to advance the product and expand the solution ecosystem through robust API-based integrations.  
  • Participate in change management and development risk mitigation efforts to ensure high-quality releases for our customers.  
  • Chair periodic Product Council Meetings to include representatives from relevant teams to provide updates, obtain feedback, prioritize efforts, and make informed product-related decisions.  
  • Work closely with the global development team to align strategic values, increase feature velocity, improve quality, and enter new markets as the company continues to scale.

A little more about you...

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in software development, computer science, product management, or related field.
  • Passionate and driven product leader with 10+ years of Product Management and/or Engineering experience who thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.  
  • Experience working with enterprise SaaS software, industry-specific applications, or line of business software. 
  • Specific work experience as a product manager, software developer, or project manager.
  • Experience with product visioning, product launches, user experience improvement, and related concepts.  
  • Keen business acumen and proven management abilities to lead and/or influence geographically remote software development teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts, analyze results and explain implications clearly to audiences of varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Experience developing B2B systems that include concepts of reservations, inventory, managing customer profiles, frequency/loyalty systems, and payments. 
  • Strong commercial acumen with a bias for action, ability to balance tradeoffs, prioritize for business impact, and a willingness to do what it takes.
  • An ability to understand our clients’ role-specific needs, challenges, workflows, decision-making processes, etc. to innovate and develop products and services that amplify financial impact.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization, both inside and outside of RMS, including sales, marketing, engineering, customer support, finance, and 3rd party partners.  
  • Experience with direct customer engagement and partner business development. Demonstrated success in bringing new brands and products to market.
  • Strong preference for candidates located in the San Diego area and willing to work in the office. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Bonus Points For... 

  • Deep hospitality experience and property management system, revenue management, or distribution system experience.  
  • Experience driving UX/UI refresh efforts for SaaS-based enterprise software.
  • Experience working within an agile development framework such as SCRUM.
